If you’re like me and struggle at times with meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary, I have cobbled together (and maybe someone has done this before!) something that works for me, at least for the Fourth (Jesus Carries His Cross) and Fifth (The Crucifixion) Sorrowful Mysteries. I incorporate the Stations of the Cross and the Last Seven Words of Christ as follows for my meditation and focus:
Fourth Sorrowful Mystery, Jesus Carries His Cross
1. Jesus is condemned to death (First Station of the Cross (SC))
2. Jesus accepts His cross (Second SC)
3. Jesus falls the first time (Third SC)
4. Jesus meets His Mother (Fourth SC)
5. Simon the Cyrenian helps Jesus carry the cross (Fifth SC)
6. Veronica wipes the face of Jesus (Sixth SC)
7. Jesus falls the second time (Seventh SC)
8. Jesus consoles the women of Jerusalem (Eighth SC)
9. Jesus falls the third time (Ninth SC)
10. Jesus is stripped of His garments (Tenth SC)
Fifth Sorrowful Mystery, The Crucifixion
1. Jesus is nailed to the cross (Eleventh SC)
2. “Father forgive them, they know not what they do” (Seven Last Words (SLW) #1, Jesus dies on the Cross, Twelfth SC)
3. “Amen, amen, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise” (SLW #2 & Twelfth SC)
4. “Woman, behold your son. Behold your Mother” (SLW #3 & Twelfth SC)
5. “My God, My God, why have you forsaken Me” (SLW #4 & Twelfth SC)
6. “I Thirst” (SLW #5 & Twelfth SC)
7. “It is finished” (SLW #6 & Twelfth SC)
8. “Father, into Your hands I commend My Spirit” (SLW #7 & Twelfth SC)
9. Jesus is taken down from the cross (Thirteenth SC)
10. Jesus is laid in the sepulchre (Fourteenth SC)
I hope you find this helpful, I know it helps me!
